From Giant Bluefin to Sails: How a 48’ Viking Runs One Wicked System

Wicked Wells |
Every Wednesday, we sit down with elite owners, captains, and crew to break down what makes them dangerous — the gear, the mindset, and the moments that separate the stage from the sidelines.

This week, we’re heading north to the tuna grounds with Captain Kevin Simon, owner-operator of Simon Sez, a 48’ Viking running a full Wicked Wells system built for range, reliability, and serious bait loadouts.

From chasing giant bluefin tuna in the Northeast to dialing in sailfish spreads down south, Simon’s team demands a system that can handle multiple bait types — and keep them frisky, hearty, and ready to fish.

“Our Wicked Wells livewell is a game changer for our program. From keeping bluefish, pogies and mackerel for Giant Bluefin Tuna — to pilchards and goggle eyes down south for sails — our baits are always fresh and lively,” says Captain Kevin Simon.

Their current setup includes:
• 1 x Wicked Wells Sailfisher 28 Round Livewell
• 1 x In-deck Livewell
• 1 x R&R Tube Cluster

All powered by a Wicked Wells Gamechanger 3 Pump Box, running through Gemlux plumbing and a Hooker manifold. Check it out in the video:

It’s a complete, pressurized system designed to run multiple wells across a high-output Viking — with the flexibility to handle fast swaps, long holds, and critical redundancy when the bite’s on.

“It’s imperative that the baits be as frisky and hearty as possible, and the design of the Wicked Wells tank is the key to keeping them in top shape!”
— Captain Kevin Simon

From bluefish in the Northeast to gogs in the Keys, bait health is the constant — and Simon Sez is fully equipped to keep every bait alive, clean, and competition-grade.

Full system. Full confidence. Built to hold up — no matter where the season takes them.
